1. Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències
Top of the list has to be Valencia's 'City of Arts and Sciences'! If you aren't impressed by its stunningly unique exterior, you definitely will be by its contents. The complex, made up of 5 main buildings (the Hemisfèric, Umbracle, Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, Oceanográfico and Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía), is dedicated to spreading scientific and cultural knowledge in Europe, and is well worth a visit.
It's a beautiful area to walk around, with a couple of places to drink and eat as well. You can even go rowing in a little boat on the water surrounding the buildings there -- a great idea for a date!
2. Museu Faller de València
For only 2€, this museum is an absolute must-visit! The Museu Faller celebrates Valencia's exclusive festival, Las Fallas. It features Fallas figurines or ninots, that have been part of the celebrations in past years, but were saved from the fires by popular vote!
Unfortunately, the Las Fallas festival has been cancelled for the last two years due to the pandemic, but if you'd like to experience some of the drama this year, the Museu Faller is definitely the one for you.
3. Plaza de Toros
Located right in the city centre, the Plaza de Toros really resembles Rome's Colosseum! Bullfighting, although controversial, really is part of Spanish history and culture, so a visit to the Bull Ring is imperative.
The Plaza de Toros was designed in the 'neo-classical' style by Sebastián Monleón Estellés and was built between 1850 and 1860. It has a capacity of a whopping 12,000 people! Even if you aren't a fan of the buildings original use, Valencia's Plaza de Toros is well worth a visit to appreciate the stunning architecture and cultural value!
4. Almoina Archaeological Centre
A fascinating glimpse into Valencia's Roman history, this uncovered archaeological site is a must! Whether you're into history or not, the Almoina is sure to impress.
In terms of geographical area, it's not a large exhibition but there plenty to see, experience and read, including fascinating animations that show the ruins as they once were when first built during Roman times. And at only 2€ per visit, this walk through Valencia's ancient history is a steal!
5. Museo del Arroz de Valencia
A trip to Valencia isn't complete without learning a little about the principal ingredient of its delicious regional dish, paella! This museum offers you a little history on the production of rice in the area.
You'll be able to take a look at all the old machinery that's used to process the rice until its just right for a traditional Valencian paella . Why not finish off your trip with a meal at a nearby paella restaurant in the stunning Old Town?
