 Located just an hour outside of Madrid, Toledo is a UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site in 1986 for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage. It boasts 2,000 years of history, and is filled with small hidden squares, winding side streets and historic buildings and monuments at every turn. The Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian influences that are seen throughout the city are sure to impress. Christians, Arabs and Jews lived there together for many years, earning this town the nickname of the “city of the three cultures.”  

Before we go we´d like you to knoint Peter's Basilica in Rome. Its beauty will surprise you. 🤩

🔵 The Cathedral of Toledo is the second richest temple in the world after Sa San Juan de los Reyes has been the location for many films about the Queen Isabella, Joan the Mad or Cristobal Colon.  +

🔵 The most famous Hollywood's weapons are from Toledo. Here the artisans have created swords for films as Gladiator, Alexander the Great and the famous Lord of the Rings. 😮  

🔵 The Greco's masterpiece, “The burial of Lord Orgaz” never has left Toledo and the walls of Saint's Tome church. You can't miss it! 

🔵 Did you know the Tagus River is the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula? This river has been frozen several times. During a frost people could cross the river by horse. Imagine the experience!  

🔵 The legend says that the nuns from the Convent of San Clemente invented this famous sweet from Toledo: the marzipan, made with sugar and almonds. Delicious! 😋  

🔵 During the Middle Age Toledo was a city so important that could be compared with New York nowadays. It had 30,000 inhabitants and it was a multicultural city.  

🔵 The biggest bell of Spain is in the Cathedral of Toledo. It has an equivalent weight to 4 elephants (almost 17.5 tonne), 10 meters of circumference and 3.65 meters of height. 🐘🐘🐘🐘 

🔵 The most perfect sword ever created was produced in Toledo, it is known as la Tizona, that belonged to the knight El Cid. Several artisans all over the world have tried to copy it but without success. 🗡⚔️  Enough reasons to visit this amazing city😃!

🗺Toledo (Spanish: [toˈleðo]) is a city and municipality located in central Spain; it is the capital of the province of Toledo and the autonomous community of Castile–La Mancha. Toledo was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage. 

Museum El Greco  

This museum has an extensive collection of paintings by this artist of the Spanish Golden Age. Opened in 1911, the museum is located in Toledo's Jewish Quarter. It consists of two buildings: a 16th-century house with a courtyard, and an extension dating from the early 20th century. The two share a garden. The museum houses numerous works by El Greco, especially from this brilliant painter's last period, as well as canvases by other 17th century Spanish painters, furniture from the same era and pottery from Talavera de la Reina.
