About the event

Located just an hour outside of Madrid, Toledo is a UNESCO  declared a World Heritage Site in 1986 for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage.  It boasts 2,000 years of history, and is filled with small hidden squares, winding side streets and historic buildings and monuments at every turn. History buff? 😀  The Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian influences that are seen throughout the city are sure to impress. Christians, Arabs and Jews lived there together for many years, earning this town the nickname of the “city of the three cultures.”

Before we go we´d like you to know some interesting information about Toledo 🤔

🔵 The Cathedral of Toledo is the second richest temple in the world after Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Its beauty will surprise you. 🤩

🔵 Do you know where is the smallest window of the world? It is in Toledo, located in Silleria street. Who is going to look out the window? 😉

🔵 Toledo is a City of Cinema. The Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes has been the location for many films about the Queen Isabella, Joan the Mad or Cristobal Colon.

🔵 The most famous Hollywood’s weapons are from Toledo. Here the artisans have created swords for films as Gladiator, Alexander the Great and the famous Lord of the Rings. 😮

🔵 The Greco’s masterpiece, “The burial of Lord Orgaz” never has left Toledo and the walls of Saint’s Tome church. You can’t miss it!

🔵 Did you know the Tagus River is the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula? This river has been frozen several times. During a frost people could cross the river by horse. Imagine the experience!

🔵 The legend says that the nuns from the Convent of San Clemente invented this famous sweet from Toledo: the marzipan, made with sugar and almonds. Delicious! 😋

🔵 During the Middle Age Toledo was a city so important that could be compared with New York nowadays. It had 30,000 inhabitants and it was a multicultural city.

🔵 The biggest bell of Spain is in the Cathedral of Toledo. It has an equivalent weight to 4 elephants (almost 17,5 tonne), 10 meters of circumference and 3,65 meters of height. 🐘🐘🐘🐘

🔵 The most perfect sword ever created was produced in Toledo, it is known as la Tizona, that belonged to the knight El Cid. Several artisans all over the world have tried to copy it but without success. 🗡⚔️

Enough reasons to visit this amazing city😃 !
